April Farris Presents with Justice Clarence Thomas and Judge Edith H. Jones In Connection with Inaugural Gregory S. Coleman Memorial Lecture Series

April Farris served as a special award presenter for the Texas Chapters of the Federalist Society inaugural Gregory S. Coleman Memorial Lecture Series which was held on September 8 at the 2018 Texas Chapters Conference in Ft. Worth.

The Lecture Series was launched to honor the life, memory, and legacy of our former partner, Greg Coleman, who served as the first Solicitor General of Texas. Judge Edith H. Jones, U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, introduced keynote speaker, Justice Clarence Thomas, U.S. Supreme Court, who spoke with Leonard Leo, Executive Vice President (on leave), with the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy. Greg Coleman clerked for both Judge Jones and Justice Thomas as part of his storied legal career.

Farris, who presented commemorative plaques to the Coleman family and to Justice Thomas, announced to a crowd of some 400 lawyers and judiciary from around the state, “The Federalist Society has created a plaque commemorating this inaugural Gregory S. Coleman Memorial Lecture. The plaques have Federalist Society Logo and the State Seal of Texas. Texas’s Secretary of State approved our use of the State Seal in recognition of Greg’s significant contributions as Texas’s First Solicitor General.”

Each year, the Federalist Society plans to remember Greg Coleman at its annual Texas Chapters Conference by selecting and presenting a lecturer who exemplifies his commitment to the constitution, the rule of law, and public service.  Watch the full inaugural lecture here.
