Christopher Porter is co-presenting a program which examines core concepts and key elements of the independent-contractor defense found in Chapter 95 of the Texas Civil Practices & Remedies Code. This statute offers enhanced protections for the owners of commercial property who are sued by independent contractors for personal injury and/or property damage that the contractors sustained while working on the owner's premises. Recent developments in Chapter 95 jurisprudence will be discussed, including but not limited to the Texas Supreme Court's recent decisions in Abutahoun v. The Dow Chemical Co. and Elmgreen v. INEOS.
