Anna Rotman has joined the Texas Civil Rights Project’s Board of Councilors. The organization’s mission is to promote racial, social and economic justice through education and litigation to make structural change in areas such as voting rights, police and border patrol misconduct, sex discrimination, employment bias, privacy, disability rights, grand jury discrimination, traditional civil liberties (i.e. free speech), and Title IX in secondary education. TCRP also conducts a program under the Violence Against Women Act. Follow the link for more information regarding TCRP.
Anna, along with Ryan Bates and Ed Dawson, has most recently been working with TCRP to protect the First Amendment rights of two individuals who have been banned from expressing their views on City property in connection with Occupy Austin at Freedom Plaza in Austin, Texas. Trial was held in December, 2011, in the Western District of Texas before U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel and is currently pending.
