Yetter Coleman Files Amicus Brief For Supreme Court Review of Texas Death Row Inmate, Marvin L. Wilson

Dori Kornfeld Goldman and Jim Zucker filed an amicus curiae brief on behalf of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities at the U.S. Supreme Court, in support of the petition for certiorari of Marvin L. Wilson, an intellectually disabled offender on Texas’s death row who had a full-scale IQ of 61. The brief argued that Texas circumvents the Supreme Court’s categorical ban on capital punishment for intellectually disabled individuals by employing a contra-clinical test that caters to entrenched stereotypes and excludes all but the most severely disabled from protection. The Supreme Court denied Mr. Wilson’s motion for stay of execution, and he was executed on August 7, 2012.
