Abilene Christian University has honored April Farris with its prestigious 2019 Gutenberg Award which recognizes distinguished professional achievements of ACU’s Journalism and Mass Communication Department alumni. She graduated from ACU summa cum laude with a B.S. in Integrated Marketing Studies in 2006.
Farris joined Yetter Coleman’s appellate team in 2010 following her graduation from Harvard Law School and a clerkship with Hon. Jennifer Walker Elrod on the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She left the firm in 2014 to work as an Assistant Solicitor General for the State of Texas, returning in 2016.
Farris is recognized as a “Texas Rising Star,” in appellate law by Thomson Reuters’ Super Lawyers and serves as a Council Member for the Texas State Bar Appellate Section.
“We are very proud of April. The Gutenberg award is a reflection of her as a person and of how well-prepared she was at ACU,” reflects Paul Yetter, adding “We are grateful that the University honored her because she is a very special person to us. And because it is a key part of who she is, April will continue to shine in the legal profession.”
