Jason LaFond Welcomed to Yetter Coleman as Senior Counsel

Yetter Coleman is pleased to welcome Jason LaFond as senior counsel.

Jason’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and appeals with over a decade of advocacy in all aspects of appeals and in courts across Texas and the country. He brings to bear comprehensive experience in Texas state and federal courts and regularly appears before the U.S. Supreme Court, arguing emergency applications, petition-and merits-stage briefing, and amicus efforts.

Prior to law school, Jason was a staff member of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Ways and Means. After receiving his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, he clerked for the Honorable Allyson K. Duncan in the in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and Judge Thomas P. Griesa in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Jason began his private practice as an appellate associate at Mayer Brown LLP in Washington, DC.

Jason joins Yetter Coleman following six years of public service. From 2016 – 2020, he was an Assistant Solicitor General in the Texas Attorney General’s office where he represented Texas and its agencies and officers in complex appeals. Most recently, he was a senior legal officer with the University of Texas at Austin, helping to guide the school through newly emerging legal areas, including its response to COVID-19 and the new name, image, and likeness regime in college athletics.
