After the court entered a damaging summary judgment order, and less than three months before the close of discovery, the client engaged Yetter Coleman to serve as lead counsel on this royalty litigation matter that centered on novel oil-and-gas and real property title issues.

More than a dozen plaintiffs sued our client to augment their share of a royalty interest. Our team deployed an aggressive and creative strategy to position the case for a successful resolution. This strategy resulted in the court granting a summary judgment in the client’s favor (based on the rule against perpetuities), a motion to exclude the plaintiffs’ expert, and a motion to exclude the plaintiffs’ damages evidence at trial. The court also denied the plaintiffs’ motion to continue the trial. Faced with these devastating, successive rulings, the plaintiffs quickly moved to settle the case on extremely favorable terms for the firm’s client.
