Litigation Paralegal

Yetter Coleman seeks a Paralegal with at least seven years of litigation experience to join our team. The Paralegal will assist attorneys in case management and all aspects of litigation support, through trial and the appeal process.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of case files including calendaring deadlines, file maintenance, and participation in status meetings
  • Utilize litigation support systems, specifically Relativity, iManage, and Trial Director
  • Perform substantive research, including analyzing documents and materials and summarizing for attorney review
  • Coordinate preparation and filing of briefs and legal documents including cite checking and compiling appendices and exhibits
  • Proficiency with electronic filings and working knowledge of state and federal filing rules and procedures
  • Manage, coordinate, and prepare for hearings and depositions, including drafting witness outlines, preparing deposition exhibits, and liaising with experts and witnesses
  • Collaborate with e-discovery project manager to facilitate the document production process from collection through production across all formats
  • Interact with outside entities (clients, government agencies, expert witnesses, consultants, other law firms, opposing parties, court personnel, etc.)
  • Manage trial preparations, including logistics, attorney support, drafting and management of trial exhibit list, deposition designations, witness lists, and other required pretrial filings, tracking of exhibits, testimony time, and assist with all other attorney assignments during court proceedings
  • Travel to and participate in trials or arbitrations
  • Possess the ability to function independently and collaboratively with a team on a daily basis
  • Any other functions or duties as assigned

Education, Work Experience, Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate required
  • Minimum of 7 years of paralegal experience in litigation required
  • Experience preparing for and attending trials and arbitrations required
  • Strong coordination and teamwork skills
  • Planning and organization skills, including the ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability
  • Experience filing documents with various courts, both state and federal

Technology/Software:

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint, and document management systems (iManage, SharePoint)
  • Proficiency in the use of e-discovery and deposition transcript tools (Relativity, Trial Director)
  • Proficiency with legal research tools
  • Proficiency in time-tracking software
