Yetter Coleman partner Tracy LeRoy is featured in the March/April issue of The Houston Lawyer as part of a profile on women trial lawyers and the philosophies that shape their approach in the courtroom.
In the piece titled “Perspectives: Women Aces Who Try Big Cases,” LeRoy emphasizes that credibility with both judges and juries is grounded in preparation and follow-through.
“Credibility with a jury requires keeping your promises,” she said. “If you promise them in opening statement that they will hear a certain story from the witnesses, and that you won’t waste their time with irrelevant issues or needless repetition, you must follow through.”
Having candor with the judge is a critical component of LeRoy’s strategy to build credibility. In the article, she explains that lawyers cannot ignore a precedent if it doesn’t aid their client’s position, but instead should be prepared to explain how it can be distinguished.
LeRoy focuses her practice on high-stakes business litigation and trial work.
