Yetter Coleman Promotes Matthew Zorn To Its Partnership

Yetter Coleman is pleased to announce that Matthew Zorn will become a partner of the firm effective January 1, 2022.

Zorn joined Yetter Coleman after completing a judicial clerkship with the Hon. Rodney Gilstrap in the Eastern District of Texas and working as an associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in New York. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.

Representing clients in IP, contract, and regulatory litigation, Zorn is active in both federal and state trial and appellate courts. He is recognized in IP Litigation as “One to Watch” by Best Lawyers in America and as a “Texas Rising Star” by Thomson Reuters’ Super Lawyers and was honored as a 2020 Pegasus Scholar by American Inns of Court.

In recent years, Zorn has developed a national policy-shifting practice relating to cannabis research and controlled substances. On behalf of Scottsdale Research Institute, he filed suit to successfully compel the U.S. government to promulgate new rules to approve private cannabis suppliers, ending a 50-year system that stifled vital medical research. In 2021, he represented a supplier in securing a landmark decision overturning a ban on smokable hemp products in Texas, won affirmance in the appellate court, and will defend the rulings next year in the Texas Supreme Court. As a thought leader in this emerging industry, Zorn regularly shares his insights at events like the South by Southwest Conference and as a member of Law360 Cannabis Editorial Advisory Board.

“Matt is a creative and tireless advocate for clients, and he thrives in handling the types of complicated disputes the firm is known for. We are thrilled to welcome him into our partnership,” says Tim McConn, a partner on the firm’s Management Committee.

Zorn adds, “This marks a proud moment in my career, but there’s so much more ahead. I look forward to working alongside my talented colleagues as we protect and pursue our clients’ interests in trial and appellate courts around the country.”
